LeBron, Bosh to Bulls?

This would be a coup for Chicago, if it pans out:

The NYT has the original story on Chris Bosh moving from the Toronto Raptors, and free-agent-extraordinaire LeBron James from the Cavs, moving in tandem to the storied Chicago Bulls.

ESPN has the follow up, along with the above video.

  1. I just don't see this happening.
    1) LBJ would be in the shadow of Jordan, if that matters.
    2) The organization has shown itself to be dysfunctional with the Del Negro Fiasco.
    3) You have a solid team with Rose, LBJ, Noah, and Bosh, but Rose isn't exactly a pass-first guard.
    4) Miami.

  2. I disagree. I don't think that the whole shadow of Jordan thing would matter. In fact, I think LBJ is arrogant enough to love it. I do think that the Del Negro Fiasco could be a impediment. Also, I think Rose is that good that LBJ would want to play with him.

I mean terrible for the Knicks, because I think it means we end up with Johnson/Stoudemire or Lee and years of 1st round play-off exits.

If we can't get LBJ I hope we make a hard push for Rudy and then wait for Mello next summer.

  3. I think Melo already worked out an extension with the Nuggets which would leave him unavailable next year. A possible double-dip recession and a new labor agreement would make Melo's impending free agency a little dubious financially, no?

As for Gay, I don't think the Knicks should make a push for him. He is simply not worth the big money. He is a step below Wade/Bosh/LBJ/Dirk, much like Joe Johnson. But, given teams' salary cap room, these second best free agents will get big time money.

  4. Did Melo sign his deal yet? I know that it was offered, but I thought that as of now he could opt out next year.

As for Gay, I think he will be really good. Remember he is only 23 and can play 3 positions. I agree that he is not as good as LBJ/Wade/Bosh, but I would take a 23 year old Gay (who will only get better) over a 28 (almost 29) Joe Johnson.

  5. I'd take Gay over Johnson, too, but I don't think either of them deserve max contracts. JJ got himself into the max contract stratosphere by playing Phoenix and Atlanta off each other while he was clearly pissed at Phoenix.

  6. I agree. But remember, Gay's max would be $13.5 million, not 16.5 million and I don't know if that gets matched. Then conceivably you could sign him, Amari, and two mid-level guys. I would take that over a Max Joe Johnson and a max Amari. Or you could do a Gay/Boozer/somebody You would then have Curry's expiring contract as an asset for next winter when you try to make a deal for a PG.

  7. You should take over for the Knicks because I am 99% sure they have not considered this.

  8. Dude. If the J.B. Sports chat team ran the Knicks we would at least win the east by 2012!
